Question:
Tanzania or Kenya in July 2010?

Hi!

We're planning on travelling to either Tanzania or Kenya for a week, in July (with family). My question is this:

Which place would be better to go to in july, if we want to see the best wildlife? Kenya or Tanzania?

Also, which place is better in general? (safety, people, food, etc)

Thanks!

Explore Tanzania and experience this great country to its fullest extent. Lounge on the beaches of Lake Victoria or Nyasa Lake, then gaze across the Indian Ocean towards the mystical, ever-exotic island of Zanzibar .

Safari across the rolling savannahs of the great Serengeti National Park and feast your eyes upon the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest, permanently snow-capped mountain in Africa . Get to know the smiling, friendly people in many of Tanzania 's tiny villages - nearly untouched by modern time - or tour the busy, bustling cities of Dar Es Salaam, Arusha, and Moshi.

Its indeed a facinating mountain and climbing it will take you through 5 different climatic changes as you push for africa's highest point named Uhuru peak "peak of freedom". It is a unique mountain with tempratures that range +20 degree celius in the cultivated zone to 10 degrees celius and even more in the artic zone.

Kilimanjaro is the highlight of many visitor's experince in Tanzania. Hiking on Africa's roof is the adventure of a lifetime any enthusiast can be able scale the snow peak, The most important thing about climbing Kilimanjaro is the level of time for altitude aclimatization, no matter how diffcult route may seem.

There are six official climbing routes by which to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, namely: Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, Umbwe and Machame. Of all the routes, Machame is by far the most scenic albeit steeper route up the mountain, which can be done in six or seven days. The Rongai is the easiest camping route and the Marangu is also relatively easy.

On a clear day the impressive formation can be seen from more than 160 km away, and it's only 3 degrees below the Equator, his peak is permanently covered with snow and ice.

The best place to visit especially in July is definately Kenya - you will get to experience the Great Wild Beast Migration, the herd enters the Paradise Plains of the Mara around July, crossing the mighty Mara and Talek rivers which teem with hungry Nile crocodile. Here the spectacle of life is at its most brutal as the herd panics in its instinctive need to cross to the safety of the other side, often trampling each other in the melee. Once across, they feed on the succulent grasses of the north for the next 3 months to then head back to the southern calving grounds of Ndutu in the Serengeti.

As the herd moves up from the Serengeti, there is another movement that happens within the Kenyan borders from east to west. The less documented Loita Plains herd is a migratory herd of around 20,000 that briefly herd with their cousins from Tanzania once a year. Moving westwards in the middle to end of July, they spill across the northern boundaries of the park and return to the plains in late October, swelling the numbers of the Serengeti herd for a few months as the cats in the region feast. A trip to Kenya without witnessing this spectacular sight and the infamous lions would be incomplete.

If you need a travel agent in Kenya to can contact Pamoja World on www.pamojaworld.org or email them on pamojaworld@skyweb.co.ke they have good and competitive packages

Let me also welcome you to our mother Africa. So far what i have read, its like every person has likes and dislikes of Africa but they all have one common goal. Leave alone some isolated place where thefty can happen, Kenya still out competes other East Africa countries in terms of Tourism and Hospitality. For example Kenya has more than 45 National parks where you can see every animal in Africa, more about Kenya national parks visit http://www.cheap-kenya-vacation-tips.com/kenya-game-parks.html

Kenya has the best vacation facilities compared to other African countries more at http://www.cheap-kenya-vacation-tips.com/kenya-attractions.html

But Tanzania has its share because security wise,Tanzania is the most secure country in Africa and any visitor to Tanzania is highly values more about Tanzania game life visit http://www.uganda-visit-and-travel-guide.com/tanzania-national-game-parks.html

Since you have decided to Go to Africa, don't forget to reach Uganda. While Tanzania and Kenya have the same type of wildlife, Uganda has different ones. Its in Uganda where you can see the mountain Gorilla and remember they are less than 700 in number left in the whole world, So if you've decided to travel to Kenya or Tanzania make sure you reserve some time for Uganda and I'm sure yiu will know why Uganda is called the Pearl of Africa,More information about Ugandan gorillas visit http://www.uganda-visit-and-travel-guide.com/gorillas.html

These people who are saying "Kenya, Kenya" have obviously never been to Tanzania.

First of all Tanzania is generally safer than Kenya. It has a lower crime rate and less corruption. I have spent considerably more time in Tanzania than I have in Kenya, but i have had more problems with corrupt officials (police & immigration) in Kenya.

My wife, who is Tanzanian was staying outside Nairobi with friends for two weeks was robbed at gun point. This has never happened to her in Tanzania.

Tanzania also has better and more natural variety than Kenya. Besides places like Mt. Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Selous and Tarangire, Tanzania is also home to the "8th Wonder of the Natural World" Ngorongoro Crater.

A "northern-circuit safari" in Tanzania will allow you to see 4-5 national parks in only 1 week. You'll probably see every animal you would want too.

If you haven't made up your mind and you want to base your choice on who has the best parks and wildlife research Ngoronogoro Crater and that will decide for you. Tanzania is generally considered to be the best spot in AFRICA to go on safari.

Finally, if you are going to Africa why not see Africa. Places like Nairobi have become so westernized and the people there especially youth, are forgetting their African heritage, culture and even language.

Like one of my Kenyan buddies once told me "go to Tanzania and experience the real Africa"

It's hardly a dispute. Tanzania is generally safer and has more wildlife, biodiversity, unique geography, national parks and land dedicated to conservation than Kenya.

Hi. I am currently on a safari in Tanzania. We are using a company called Wildland Adventures. We are 2 adults and 3 children, aged 7, 10, and 13. So far we are very impressed with this company, and they have been recommended in National Geographic Adventure magazine as the best safari for families. We haven't been here for a long time yet, so I can't comment on the wildlife, and Tanzania seems to be very safe with pretty easy food to eat.
